Every call is valuable to crimestoppers and in certain cases your information could bring you a cash award.
Reward will be available in few cases where such information leads to the arrest and charge of a notorious criminal or a terrorist. Not every piece of information is eligible for a reward, and not every caller is intrested in rewards as per the experience of existing programs elsewhere. All rewards are paid without compromising a callers anonymity.
In normal circumstances the maximum rewads will be Rs.1,00,000. the amount is set according to the seriousness of the crime. The crimestoppers national board is responsible for fixing the actual reward to be paid in each case.
Crime stoppers will have an agreement with one of the banks in each region. If a caller to the crimestoppers gets a reward, the caller is given a code number, then asked to call back on a given date.
If the information brings about an arrest and charge, a reward is authorized by the board chairperson. When the caller calls back, they will nominate the branch of the participating bank to pick up their reward anonymously. They can go to the bank on a given date and quote the code numbers to bank staff.
The reward will then be paid in cash, with no signature or personal details insisted upon.
